I'm seeing this quite a bit in your drawing, especially because you tend to draw those initial masses quite loosely, instead of focusing on definding them as solid, believable forms.

This flattens things out, as explained here. Once you've drawn a form, do not attempt to modify its silhouette, whether by cutting into it or extending it. Your first drawing for this lesson, show that you didn't put much thought on adding the masses, for the most part you are just adding them by drawing lines that modify the silhouette of your animals. Let's move on to the constructions themselves, and I'll try to address each step separately As a side note, I can see you are working with a sketchbook, if you can draw on loose sheets, that'd be great, when working with the sketchbook you have to worry about the spiral and makes it more complicated to draw and ghost some marks. I marked in some quick adjustments here to your second page. Always decide on where your light source is going to be first, then stick to it.Ī minor point, but try to be a little more bold with your cast shadows, allowing them to spill further than just at the base of the form itself. On your first page, you appear to have shadows being cast to the left and to the right, which would be a mistake. Firstly, cast shadows must abide by a consistent light source. I have a few comments on your cast shadows.

Starting with the organic intersections, your forms are wrapping around each other believably, your use of contour curves undermines the construction a little bit, as you are hesitant at times when drawing them. Hi PenguinMafia I saw you were looking for critiques so i'm going to help you.
